--obsolete-- HR Time Sheets

— filed under:

Attached is a note to clarify some of the overtime questions for time worked on STAT holidays.

HR defines that a STAT holiday is "scheduled" day off for M-F workers. The rest follows from the policy.

Personally, I find the definition strange, and the result is different from the normal practice in 500MeV Ops. Although it agrees with ATG...

Nonetheless we adhere to HR policies.

I had to make a few changes to the entries this last pay period regarding codes for the STAT on Thanksgiving. Some of these codes may be confusing, so I hope this will clarify some of the questions.

  1. Working a regularly scheduled shift on a STAT entitles the worker to x2 overtime. (Remember that, by default, you are also paid at 1x for that day, included in your monthly salary.) Thus the code is entered as either WST or WSP, for time or pay, respectively. This appears as overtime x2 = x3 overall.
  2. Working a regular OFF day entitles the worker to x3 overtime. This is entered as OST or OSP, for time or pay, respectively.
  3. Working extra hours on a regular shift on a STAT entitles the worker to x3 overtime for those hours. This is entered as OST or OSP, for time or pay, respectively.

Thus, for example, if Jack is scheduled to work Thanksgiving and works from 08:00 to 18:00, there would be 8h WSP amd 2h OSP. If Jane is scheduled to be off, but works Thanksgiving to cover for Jack, and works from 08:00 to 18:00, it is entered as 10h OSP.

     4.  A regularly scheduled working day taken off on a STAT does not get entered as anything. You are absent as anyone else working regular M-F. It is not permisable to enter a V and collect PL.

Thus, if Jack takes off Thanksgiving, that day is left as blank. (No V/PL)

Clarification of HR Time Sheet Codes

Again, thank you for the further clarification. I have revised my note to include your remarks and corrections. Please read through them again, as I have made some assumptions about lieu days.

According to the TRIUMF policy, by definition, every regular M-F worker is scheduled to be "off shift" during a STAT, so it is an OSP situation when they are requested to work on a STAT.

STAT falling on weekday; ie. coincident with site "business" closure

  1. Shift worker attending scheduled work day on STAT: receives WSP/WST for work on the STAT.
  2. Shift worker who is scheduled to be off on STAT: receives PL for STAT.
  3. Shift worker who is scheduled to work, but books off: no entry required.
  4. Shift worker who is scheduled to be off, but fills in for another scheduled worker: receives OSP/OST for overtime on STAT.
  5. Regular worker has day off: no entry required.\
  6. Regular worker (who, by definition, is scheduled to be off for the STAT) but fills in for another scheduled worker: receives OSP/OST.
  7. Regular worker (who, by definition, is scheduled to be off for the STAT) but works independently as required to complete assigned tasks at the request of the supervisor: receives OSP/OST.
  8. Regular worker (who, by definition, is scheduled to be off for the STAT) but works independently as required to complete assigned tasks on their own initiative: receives E or STAT to be taken as L.
STAT falling on weekend; ie. not coincident with site "business" closure
  1. Shift worker attending scheduled work day on the official STAT: receives WSP/WST for work on the STAT regardless of attendance on the designated lieu day!
  2. Shift worker who is scheduled to be off on the official STAT: receives PL for the official STAT regardless of attendance on the designated lieu day!
  3. Shift worker who is scheduled to be work, but books off: no entry required.
  4. Shift worker who is scheduled to be off, but fills in for another scheduled worker: receives OSP/OST for overtime on a STAT.
  5. Regular worker attends on the official STAT (filling in for a shift worker) at the request of the supervisor: receives WSP/WST and is entitled to take the designated STAT.
  6. Regular worker attends on the official STAT (for own work load) at the request of the supervisor:receives WSP/WST and is entitled to take the designated STAT.
  7. Regular worker attends on the official STAT (for own work load) on his/her own initiative: receives E or STAT to be taken as L and is entitled to take the designated STAT.
  8. Regular worker (who is scheduled to be off for the designated TRIUMF lieu day) but fills in for another scheduled shift worker: receives OSP/OST.
  9. Regular worker (who is scheduled to be off for the designated TRIUMF lieu day) but works independently as required to complete assigned tasks at the request of the supervisor: receives OSP/OST.
  10. Regular worker (who is scheduled to be off for the designated TRIUMF lieu day) but works independently as required to complete assigned tasks on his/her own initiative: receives E or STAT to be taken as L.
