Alarm ILE1A:TC1:RDVOL Instructions

What it means: Overtemperature alarm for 8Pi electronics enclosure.

What to do:

  1. Find the 8Pi electronics enclosure (plexiglass cage near tall red tower of the LTNO, near [the] washroom in [the] ISAC Experimental Hall.
  2. Go to the air conditioning unit on the 8Pi enclosure (the big white box on the North end of the enclosure).
  3. Find the panel of indicator lights and the toggle switch labelled P368A-31/33 on the West side of the air conditioning unit, about 2.1 metres (7 ft) above the ground.
  4. Repeat the following steps up to a maximum of three times. If you have to do any of them more than three times, proceed to 5):
    1. Note which indicator lights are lit or flashing, if any.
    2. Turn the [toggle] switch "off", wait 15 seconds, and turn the switch "on".
    3. If the green "status" light is flashing, proceed to 4d), otherwise, go back to 4a).
    4. Wait 60 seconds.
    5. Go into the shack. If the air flowing out of any gaps near the bottom of the racks is cooler than the ambient temperature, proceed to 4f), otherwise, to back to 4a).
    6. Close the door to the shack and monitor the EPICS temperature reading on ILE1A:TC1:RDVOL. If, after two minutes, the temperature has neither dropped nor stabilized below the trip point, go back to the start of 4). Otherwise, skip 5) and proceed to 6).
  5. Something drastic has happened. Open the back doors of all the gray electronics cabinets and the front door of the glass enclosure immediately and proceed to step 6).
  6. Regardless of the time of day, contact someone:
    • Andrei Andreyev, ext. 6491, or 604-224-7601
    • Greg Hackman, ext. 7441, or 604-324-9668
    • Gordon Ball, ext. 7334, or 604-942-0520
    • LN2-responsible person, 604-313-7713
    • During regular working hours, have Reception page "Someone from the 8Pi Group"
    • Anyone on http://trshare.triumf.ca/~hackman/local/cont8pi.htm
Explain what happened, and ask for further instructions.
