HEBT Buncher Set Up for DRAGON

Procedure:

  • Deliver beam to DRAGON and ask for energy measurement (they will measure the energy looking at [ed.] DRA:XSLITC currents, making them even).
  • Some steering in the final section (HEBT2 page) may be required in order to improve transmission through the DRAGON chamber and centre the beam on the CCD camera.
  • After they finish, turn on the desired HEBT Buncher (11Mhz or 35MHz).  The Buncher should come on around 400 [amplitude], but it may take a few attempts -- if auto-on is unsuccessful, try pulse conditioning for a few minutes), and set the amplitude to 120.
  • Set the phase, maximizing on DRA:FCCH (there are two phases, 180° apart - choose the one that gives the higher current on DRA:FCCH), maintaining evenly balanced [ed.] currents on DRA:XSLITC.
  • Set the Buncher amplitude in order to maximize the beam current on DRA:FCCH.
